About Us

We are a 177 acre beef/produce farm in Mount Savage, Maryland. We are approximately 2 hours from Baltimore, Washington, and Pittsburgh. Our produce and grass-fed beef are raised in accordance with organic standards.

Amanda's family has owned the land and Leaning Pine Farm since 1942. They sold their dairy cattle in 2002, when milk prices bottomed out (read: mega-dairy farms in California). The family went into raising beef cattle, and we began selling beef at the farmer's market in 2004.

Amanda is the Program Director of the Older Americans Act at the Human Resources Development Commission, Allegany County's local area agency on aging. She does the vast majority of the cattle work these days, including the winter feeding and assisting her father and uncle with hay work during the summer. Her and Sam deliver the CSA shares every Saturday.

Sam is the Communications Administrator for Little Me Childrenswear, and the Chair of the National Agriculture Committee for the Sierra Club. He operates the greenhouse and does much of the vegetable field work.
