Community Supported Agriculture
A Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program is a unique bond between farmers and families. Customers pre-pay for a "share" in the Spring for weekly deliveries of fresh, organically grown produce throughout the season. Along with our produce, shareholders have the opportunity to develop a dialogue on farming and sustainability concepts. Our goal is to not just provide you with low cost organically grown foods, but to inform others on the importance of locally grown food and its effects on our environment, our future.
The Cedar Rock Farm CSA program runs for 20 weeks, from late May through early October. You'll receive up to a 3/4 a bushel of produce each week. More during the height of the season. A half share is the same amount, every other week.
Produce available for pickup will vary each week, depending on the season and what is ready that week. The produce we grow for the CSA includes: mixed lettuce, green beans, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, yellow and pie squash, zucchini, cucumbers, red kidney beans, pumpkins, swiss chard, peas, spinach, and beets. These are just some of the items you'll receive in your box each week.
We will deliver produce to the shareholder's home, if they are located in Frostburg, LaVale, Cumberland, or Mt. Savage. This will reduce the overall greenhouse gas emissions for our farm. However, we certainly do encourage and welcome anyone that wants to pick up their produce at the farm.
You can download our application below, fill it out, and send it to us along with 50 percent of the share. Please call or email us if you have any questions.
